Up next: a tour of the exterior of our home!
Below is our front stoop. We’ve since added a (boring) welcome mat and made plans to paint our front door, but that’s all we’ve accomplished so far.
I’m not crazy about the color of the exterior of our home – I’d much rather live in a navy blue, buttery yellow or charcoal grey house – but until our house needs a paint job, this caramel hue will be sticking around. Thankfully, the paint is in great shape, since our home was built just in 2006, so hopefully we’re at least five years out from needing another paint job.
This (below) is a view at our back patio, which is located just off the back entrance to our garage. The previous owners housed a large dog kennel in this area, but offered to stain the cement pad for us. We took them up on it, and we couldn’t be happier – it looks great! The window you see below is to the guest bedroom downstairs. Ideally, I’d love to build some Adirondack chairs for this patio, and perhaps paint our old pub table (that used to be in our kitchen) with durable outdoor paint for a cute dinner location for summer meals. The hedges badly need a trim job, which is on the to-do list for this weekend!
Here’s the view looking towards the garage entrance; the window you see on the second floor is to the master bedroom.
Our home also has an expansive (12′ by 10′) back deck, which is located off of the kitchen. Here’s a look at the stairs leading up to the deck:
The view from the second-floor deck is expansive in some areas and constricting in others. We definitely are too close for comfort to some of our neighbors, so we plan to add potted privacy grasses around the perimeter in some locations of the deck to help privatize our lounge area up here. I’d love to add a large outdoor table and colorful chairs up here, as well as some pallet bench seating with cushions, fun pillows and built-in, lift-up storage for outdoor toys and other things.
And that’s the exterior of our home! More reveals to come…
Great spaces!
