    Hello!

Copywriter on Location: What It Is, Who It’s For, and What It Could Look Like For You

    Copywriting

    May 23, 2024

The online business world is a fun place to be because you truly get the opportunity to connect with so many different people doing different things who live in different places.

But coming from a background of teaching, I was so incredibly used to being surrounded by real humans every single day. So when I made the shift into entrepreneurship, I – like many other entrepreneurs – started to experience a sense of loneliness.

Even when you love what you do so much, it can still feel so isolating when you wake up in your home, go to work in your home, end work in your home, and then go spend time with your family in your home.

And don’t get me wrong – the perks of being able to work from home, make my own schedule, and spend even more time with my family is incredible, and I wouldn’t trade any of it, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t sometimes crave more time in community with other people.

    Two feelings can coexist!

When I started to recognize this crave for more in-person community, I asked myself – even though I’m technically an online business owner, does that mean that every service I offer HAS to be offered solely online?

As business owners, it’s really easy to fall into the trap of doing what other people are doing. We see other people solely offering services online, so we think we need to do it that way as well.

“It’s just the way it’s done,” we tell ourselves. But that mindset and way of thinking can often cause us not to act on the good ideas that we may have simply because it doesn’t fit into the typical online business owner box.

This is why when a recent bright idea of mine came to mind, I didn’t ignore it. And honestly, I didn’t even think about it or try to justify it for very long. Instead, I decided to just GO FOR IT.

And that’s when Copywriter on Location was born. 📍

    What Is Copywriter On Location?

Through all of the services I offer, whether it be group coaching through Storysale, helping students in The Content Huddle membership, or doing done-for-you client work, I’m all about helping people create word-magic. ✨

“Word-magic” is my fancy way of saying I love helping creative business owners write copy that’s infused with your personality so that you create a deep, genuine connection with your ideal audience right off the bat.

Anyone can write a website, write an email, or write a blog post. But the websites, emails, and blog posts that are infused with your personal word-magic are the ones that will stand out in a sea of sameness and lead to attracting more of the right people into your bubble.

We can accomplish this through any of the services that I offer, it really just depends on which service you prefer more.

If you’re a DIYer, but want the ability to be surrounded by other people for support, The Content Huddle is for you.

If you’re a DIYer, but want an extra level of 1:1 support while also still experiencing a group setting, Storysale is a great fit.

Not into the DIY life? Maybe you outsource your copy entirely!

So, where does Copywriter on Location fall into this? Well, if you’re anything like me, sometimes you simply crave getting into an actual room with another service provider to receive coaching AND your deliverables in a shorter time frame.

Because let’s be real – most things that you purchase online aren’t granted right away. There’s often a timeline that’s set in place, and it could be weeks before you receive your final product.

And while I certainly understand why it has to be this way, I also understand that this isn’t always ideal as a business owner, so I wanted to create a way that you could have both – an in-person experience combined with deliverables that you receive in DAYS, not weeks.

💡 Insert Copywriter on Location: an in-person website copywriting and coaching experience from What Sara Said that offers done-for-you website copy AND personalized, 1:1 coaching… all conducted in-person over a few days together!

The schedule for Copywriter on Location looks a little something like this:

    Day 1️⃣

    • Kickoff Meeting
    • Photography Session Shadowing
    • Website Copy Polishing
    • Informal Coaching over Dinner

    Day 2️⃣

    • Website Copy and SEO Meeting
    • Informal Coaching over Breakfast or Lunch
    • Email Welcome Sequence Creation

Followed by: One week of post-intensive 1:1 Voxer Access so you can ask questions, share wins, and get advice and support as you roll your polished website and new email welcome sequence.

Copywriter on Location is ideal for female photographers or passionate service providers who have been in business for 2+ years and are eager to learn and try new things within the online space!

    Recent Copywriter on Location Recap

Now that you know what Copywriter on Location is, you might be wondering what this really looks like in action. So, let me give you a quick recap of two location visits that I recently went on. ⬇️

➡️First up, I visited the lovely Jessica Leigh Photography in Baltimore.

Like all Copywriter on Location clients, we began her experience with a kickoff meeting to discuss her business, her goals for the future, and her website. She’s had a new website design that’s been ready and waiting for quite some time (like years!), but she had been delayed publishing it because she hadn’t had the copy done and didn’t like her current copy.

Psst, sound familiar?! This is so common for many business owners!

After discussing her business goals and learning more about her current website, I then observed her photographing a brand session for an area realtor. I took behind-the-scenes video and photo content for her, and I took notes of my observations while she photographed.

That evening, we met for dinner and had an informal coaching session where we discussed social media and her level of comfort showing up online, as well as email marketing.

I personally think the informal coaching sessions are one of the most unique parts of this service, as you really get the ability to talk about anything that YOU specifically want.

Want to chat about social or email? Great! Need a listening ear to brainstorm future offers? I’m here for it. Want to gab about your website copy the whole time? You know that’s my jam!

For this client specifically, her final deliverable was done-for-you website copy so that she can FINALLY publish the website design that’s been collecting dust all this time.

➡️Next up on my travel list was Christina Tundo Photography, located in the DC area.

Again, we began with a kickoff meeting, and I reviewed her current website. While the site was beautiful and easy to navigate as is, she ultimately felt like her copy didn’t share who she is and why she loves what she does.

After discussing this and hearing her concerns, I observed her photographing a family of four in their home outside DC. After the session, we split up for the afternoon so that I could write her website copy before meeting back up for dinner and informal coaching.

The next morning, we met over breakfast, and she was so pleased with her website copy outcome and felt like it was exactly what her website was missing! From there, we moved on to re-working her email welcome sequence before departing.

Overall, both of these trips were great beta examples of what I ultimately want Copywriter on Location to be. While working together via Zoom and Google Docs is amazing, there’s just something about the energy boost that being face-to-face and talking in-person brings.

So, if you’re curious and interested in what a Copywriter on Location experience could look like for you, you should know that I’m already scouting locations and photographers that I want to work with coming up this fall.
